Luz Photography Group which is based in Chiclana de la Frontera on the Costa de la Luz in Spain was established in 2009 with the aim of bringing together people who enjoy or would like to enjoy the hobby of photography. We have about 12 active members both men and women. Our Bi-weekly meetings are held on Tuesday mornings where we go to local towns, villages or other places of interest and aim to get back for around 2:00pm. Occasionally we have all day meetings where we go further afield and to special events which may mean that we go out on a different day that particular week. We normally meet at a convenient point and where we can car share to our intended destination. There is a small membership charge & we do expect members to participate in car sharing & contribute to petrol and parking costs, particularly if travelling any distance. Occasionally if the weather is inclement, we have indoor meetings where camera techniques and software tutorials are held on a variety of subjects.
The group has a private members area on the FlickR photo sharing website and after each outing members are encouraged to post some of their photo's so that everyone can see the results and comment if they wish. This is a constructive way of learning how to improve as the more experienced members will be able to give hints and tips on how a particular shot could have been improved.
All our members use digital cameras from various manufacturers and
it is not necessary to spend a fortune on kit, it is more important to have a
eye for a picture. We run 'members only' competitions based on a particular
theme and these entries are judged by our founder and leader Les Rowe with the
help of Dave Ewert (Member). Needless to say there are no prizes, only the
satisfaction to be gained from achieving good review comments & marks.
Luz PG Mission Statement , put simply, is to provide like-minded people, interested in the art of photography, to meet on a regular basis, exchange information, learn more about their interest, improve their photographic techniques and share images in various formats in a congenial atmosphere.
The Group welcomes members of all genders, ages and religions.
